How do I disciple my kids?
Good question! If you’re a parent, it’s your God-given responsibility to disciple your kids. Just like us, our kids need to be reconciled to our perfect and holy God. Their salvation will ultimately be a work of the Holy Spirit, but our job as parents is to provide as much fodder for the flame of their faith as we possibly can. GP is serious about equipping parents to disciple their kids. We put tools into your kids’ hands every Sunday. GP Kids even motivates them with prizes for studying their Bibles at home. We have resources on the app as well as the weekly family devotional. This devo is designed to be a connection point for parents and kids to dig deeper into each week’s scripture. It can be read anywhere, anytime! Some families read it on the way home from church or at Sunday lunch. Some read it later in the week. Find a time that works best for your family to read it. Finding a natural time for your family helps cultivate consistency. Start by reading the scripture. Follow it up by asking the discussion questions. Listen to your children’s answers and share your own before reading the provided answers.
End your devotional with a time of prayer.
Discipleship of your children looks like everyday faithfulness to seek God’s face with your kids along side you. You can encourage them in their relationships with the Lord by engaging with the Timeline Stories, Memory Challenges, and establishing your own spiritual traditions and rhythms as a family. When you model the importance of your faith to your child, you build a foundation that will last them a lifetime.
If we fail to disciple our kids, we are allowing the world to do it for us. We believe as we are obedient to fill our kids with God’s truth, He will be faithful to move in their hearts and lives in tremendous ways!
